Snowshoe Golf, a golf game played with tennis balls on a course built on snow, was invented by Robert Lyons and Ray Alford in 1999, and has been held annually ever since as a McCall Winter Carnival event. The Men’s Club has sponsored the event since 2001 at various locations in McCall with proceeds going to participating charitable organizations. The event is now being held at the McCall Disc Golf Course with cooperation from the McCall Parks and Recreation Department and the High School Golf teams.

The Yacht Club Challenge is held annually on the Tuesday after Winter Carnival on the Snowshoe Golf Course. This invitational scramble format tournament for the hospitality industry, with a barbecue and party, has been held annually since 2006 and has become a popular mid-winter break for the employees of hospitality industry companies. A permanent trophy is kept at The Yacht Club; individual annual trophies are on display at the winning establishments.

The Calcutta Auction is annually held at the Driving Range on the McCall Golf Course on the Wednesday before the start of play in the McCall Amateur Tournament. The event is sponsored by the Men’s Club, with major assistance from Women’s Club and cooperation of the Golf Pro and the McCall Golf Course staff. The event has become the kickoff party for the tournament and has become the largest single day fundraiser for the Men’s and Women’s Clubs.

Course Improvement Nights are held several times each summer, sponsored by the Men’s Club to get volunteers to come out and fill in divots on the course. These events feature burgers and beers at the Clubhouse and have become popular for Men’s and Women’s Club members to combine a social gathering with making noticeable improvements to the golf course.

The Tuesday Night Scramble is held every Tuesday during the season at 5:00 PM. The 9-hole scramble format mixes teams each week, rotating between the Aspen, Birch, and Cedar courses. This is an ongoing popular event and a great way for new members to meet others.

The Club Championship Tournament is usually held the last weekend of August, featuring multiple divisions and flights. The IGA invites the Club Champion, Senior Club Champion (55+), and Super Senior Club Champion (65+) to their season-ending Tournament of Champions, held at various locations around the state.
